Plate heat exchangers consist of different heat transfer plates that are sealed with gaskets, soldered or welded together. There are flow channels inside the heat exchangers that provide flow to the hot and cold environment. This allows thermal energy to be transferred from one medium to another. It is important to safely separate the two environments (eg by gaskets) to prevent heat mixing.
